Those same two decades, however, are also responsible for an IT environment with numerous systems including PeopleSoft™ and Oracle™.

IntervoiceThere were many challenges and opportunities posed by the need for a new HR system. As a technology leader, Intervoice understood the need for constant innovation in order to maintain a competitive edge. This kind of competitive edge is dependent upon attracting and retaining the best people. So, they wanted to be able to have the resources to recruit, manage, develop and retain high-quality employees. They saw the need to provide an attractive, easy to use Web portal to meet recruitment and HR needs and replace their legacy system. And, they wanted a system that would support compliance with the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) regulations.

Intervoice elected to do a global SAP HR implementation enabling them to utilize the latest technology for E-Recruitment and talent development and to align the company’s HR functions with Intervoice’s long term business strategy. Intervoice saw that there would be many benefits. Users would be able to access HR functionality through an easy-to-use Web portal. Managers would have a superior recruitment system and full access to 100% of the historical, legacy personnel-related data. In addition, managers would be able to use numerous portals to examine and analyze vital HR-related content.

Intervoice recognized the global advantage that consolidating several systems to an SAP solution would bring to their business, but also understood the challenges of taking on a project of this scope. Don Brown, Executive VP of Intervoice’s HR Department put it plainly: “Nobody wants to go through a migration, but we were very concerned with HR being isolated on PeopleSoft™ and removed from the other parts of the business. Our people are an integral part of our strategy and our system requirements, and the metrics from that needed to be integrated into the corporate strategic vision.”

Once Intervoice added up all the costs to maintain the PeopleSoft™ system, it was clear that the SAP HR implementation and data migration were necessary.

“We found that additional ongoing costs for a separate PeopleSoft™ system including hardware, software, upgrades, training, and technical personnel costs are staggering,” Brown continued.

Brown’s concerns with the migration process went beyond the labor-intensive data extraction, mapping, and translations. He was unwilling to lose several years of critical HR business data that the organization had accumulated on other systems.

“SAP’s human capital management (HCM) solutions wouldn’t be fully leveraged if the employee data was in a separate reporting database. It needed to look like we’d always been on SAP,” said Brown.

So, Intervoice turned their attention toward selecting an implementation partner that had experience not only in doing a complex global implementation, but also one that had experience in reducing the challenges of conversion of data. They found more than they were looking for.

“Initially we were shocked at how few companies could attempt to convert historical data. Then we were surprised that AspireHR had more than just experience. They had a packaged solution,” explained Brown. “AspireHR’s HR DataExchange allowed us to convert every piece of critical HR history: HR master data, organizational charts, pay history, promotions, appraisals… everything we wanted. Best of all, HR DataExchange required fewer consulting hours because it automated the conversion so it took half the time.

By partnering with AspireHR Intervoice was able to smoothly transition all of their data and create a system that was both efficient and effective in managing the Human Resource area. The team of professionals from AspireHR were able to ensure that the project was completed on time and within budget.
