Kronos Cloud and Workforce Central Phase Out: What You Need to Know

What‘s the impact of this major technology change for your organization, the next steps you need to take, and how to make the most of it?

Kronos Cloud and Workforce Central Phase Out: What You Need to Know

Late last year, Ultimate Kronos Group (UKG) notified their customers that they were retiring two of their workforce management solutions, Kronos Cloud (KPC) and On-Premise Workforce Central (WFC). Given this announcement, clients using these UKG platforms need to consider new options for time and attendance, absence management, compliance management, scheduling, labor forecasting, payroll, and other workforce management functions.

When will UKG stop supporting these platforms?

Kronos Cloud (KPC) will be retired on December 31, 2025. On-Premise Workforce Central (WFC) will be retired on March 31, 2027.

What are the implications of the Kronos Cloud and Workforce Central phase out for current customers?

  1. UKG will no longer provide service release updates, new features, patches for defects or security enhancements, or version updates on these platforms.
  1. Current customers of these platforms will need to choose between moving onto another UKG offering or begin vetting other solutions. Many companies are looking to WorkForce Software Time and Attendance as a solution alternative to UKG.
  1. The legacy Kronos 4500 time clock is also being retired along with WFC. If you are using the Kronos 4500 time clock you’ll also need to transition to a different time clock as well.

When should I start moving platforms?

Platform migrations depend heavily on a number of factors, including organizational complexity, clock distribution, data migration requirements, change management, resourcing, readiness, and more. A successful transition could take a few months or up to a year, depending on your available resources and complexity of your organization.
